For five seasons, its brother publication Fantasy Baseball Dugout has been presenting its popular “Baseball’s Hottest Wives” contest. It is, by far, the most popular segment of the website and has been featured in numerous national newspapers and on the Spadora on Sports ESPN Radio show. It has amassed more than 70,000 votes per year for the popular competition.

Last year, Laurie Schaub, an ex-Houston Texans cheerleader and wife of quarterback Matt Schaub, won the initial Football’s Hottest Wives competition. Schaub is back again this year to defend her title against the 2011-12 Sweet 16 finalists.

Schaub is one of 3 ex-NFL cheerleaders in the finals that also includes 2 models, 2 pageant winners, 3 actresses, and 3 athletes. Seven of the 16 finalists have husbands that play quarterback. The Patriots, Chargers, and Cowboys are the only teams to have 2 nominees among the Sweet 16.

Here are the Sweet 16 for Football’s Hottest Wives, 2011-2012.

Laurie Schaub (Matt Schaub, QB, Houston Texans) – Laurie Schaub is the defending champion. She is an ex-Texans cheerleader and a dance instructor.

Alicia Jammer (Quentin Jammer, CB, San Diego Chargers) – Alicia Jammer finished second in last year’s voting. She appeared on the Football Wives show on the E Network and is active in raising money for foster children in the San Diego area.

Julie Dorenbos (Jon Dorenbos, Long Snapper, Philadelphia Eagles) – If you thought only quarterbacks got the hottest girls, think again. Eagles Pro Bowler Jon Dorenbos is married to Julie Dorenbos — one of the early leaders of the competition.

Sasha Dindayal (Antonio Gates, TE, San Diego Chargers) – The Trinidad-born beauty has appeared as a model in several hip-hop videos.

Carrie Prejean (Kyle Boller, QB, Oakland Raiders) – Carrie Prejean was Miss California 2009 and first runner-up for Miss USA. She caused controversy during the pageant by saying that she believed that marriage should be “between a man and a woman” only.

Candice Crawford (Tony Romo, QB, Dallas Cowboys) – Candice Crawford looks a lot like Romo’s ex Jessica Simpson. She is a former Miss Missouri and worked as a reporter at KDAF in Dallas. Candice’s sister Chace stars on the TV hit Gossip Girl.

Kristin Cavallari (Jay Cutler, QB, Chicago Bears) – Kristin Cavallari is an actress who has appeared on Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County and The Hills. She was a contestant on the most recent Dancing with the Stars.

Evelyn Lozada (Chad Ochocinco, WR, New England Patriots) – The Latin beauty is a singer and admits to have a real shoe problem. She is the owner of an upscale shoe store Dulce in Florida. Lozada was formerly engaged to basketball star Antoine Walker.

Amanda Brown (Peyton Hillis, RB, Cleveland Browns) – Amanda Brown and the Browns running back are our freshest newlyweds coming off of a late October wedding in Arkansas.

Betina Driver (Donald Driver, WR, Green Bay Packers) – Betina is a body builder that looks like she could match up one on one with Donald–one of the best wide receivers in the NFL.

Gisele Bundchen (Tom Brady, QB, New England Patriots) – Gisele Bundchen is the most famous in the bunch since Kendra Wilkinson is no longer eligible. She is a super model and a Victoria’s Secret angel.

Brittany Koehl (Stephen McGee, QB, Dallas Cowboys) – With Brittany’s nomination, there are two very deserving wives of Cowboys’ quarterbacks in the Sweet 16.

Christy Oglevee (Chris Cooley, TE, Washington Redskins) – Christy Oglevee is an ex-Redskins cheerleader.

Heather Mitts (A.J. Feeley, QB, St. Louis Rams) – Heather Mitts is a two-time Olympic gold medalist in soccer. She was named ESPN’s Sexiest female athlete in 2004 and appeared in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue in 2005.

Katina Taylor (Jason Taylor, OLB, Miami Dolphins) — Katina Taylor is an ex-gymnast and dance instructor who undoubtedly helped Jason on his Dancing with the Stars appearance. Katina’s brother is 8-time Pro Bowl linebacker Zach Thomas who spent most of his career with the Dolphins.

Kim Zolciak (Kroy Bierman, DE, Atlanta Falcons) – Kim Zolciak appeared on the Real Housewives of Atlanta television show.

Sanya Richards (Aaron Moss, CB, New York Giants) – Originally from Jamaica, Sanya Richards was our bronze medalist in the 2010 competition, but was a gold medalist in the 4 x 400 relay at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Fans can vote for Football’s Hottest Wives on the Fantasy Football Sideline (http://www.FantasyFootballSideline.com) site. In addition, the competition also provides text message voting. Last year, over 90,000 sports fans voted in the Baseball’s Hottest Wives and Football’s Hottest Wives voting. Voting will continue through the week of the Super Bowl.

Sometimes, however, it’s hard to ignore pro football cheerleaders. That is, unless you happen to be a Pittsburgh Steelers fan. The Steelers simply don’t get it. They don’t have cheerleaders. While there are certainly dedicated fans in the stands, there are no official cheerleaders for the five-time Super Bowl champions.

Now, if you’ve ever been to Arizona, you know that the Arizona State cheerleaders and the University of Arizona cheerleaders are some of the best looking college cheerleaders in the nation. So, naturally, the Arizona Cardinals have a nice group of local talent to choose from.

In honor of Super bowl XLIII, we give you the Arizona Cardinals cheerleaders and the Pittsburgh Steelers cheerleaders.

Who will you be rooting for in Super Bowl XLIII? We’re picking the Cardinals!
