America’s Best Sporting Event
When it comes to the single biggest sporting event in the country, that sporting event has to be the NCAA college basketball tournament.

Will the Huskies fly high in 2011?
It all starts on the day that the field of 64 (well its actually 68 for the first time this year) is announced on TV. That’s when the fun begins. How can the team from the power conference be passed up for a mid-major?
Then, its the analysis of the matchups that will occur. Can a # 16 seed finally take down a #1 seed? Maybe this is finally the year that happens because with the field of 68, there will be stronger teams in the # 16 slot than ever before.
The office pools go wild. People that don’t even know what state Murray State is in start to think about whether they can get past the first round. And, when that upset happens, how many people will you meet who say: “that killed my pool.” Or, the guy who knows nothing about sports who is bragging, because he “knew” that the underdog would advance.
But, office pools aren’t the only place where sports fans take sides. Some people will try sports betting for the first time during the NCAA tournament. They’ll look through the data on a bevy of online sports sites where coverage is extensive. Check it out. Even the Wall Street Journal has a college basketball section.
Maybe we’ll have our own field of 68 this year. Of course, knowing us, it will be about picking the hottest college cheerleaders.
